Hello Everyone!
We
had fun with those who we were able to figure out how to Skype and
Google Chat with , on our early morning and your later evening. During
the rest of our p-day we washed clothes, went to Urdaneta City to see
Pres and Sis. Monahan. They gave us a Coleman cooler to keep our food
and ice water drinks cold. They also said there was an extra toaster
oven available, which we felt very blessed to receive! Then we went
shopping with Sis. Monahan, bought mangos (in season now,) bread from a
bakery and Buko Pie, made from layered coconut and pineapple jell-like
layers. Very good. We are doing great... We have a very nice apt. in Calasiao town in Pangasinan area. Its said Cala-shou like shower. There is a large in ceiling thing over our bed, a very thick carved gold-plated round frame molding, very fancy, with a flower picture that reminds Dennis of the Vatican,,,. I think it looks like the England or Swedish castle ceilings or the SL Temple Celestial room ceiling.
Our apt is on a raised up parking lot,,, good if it floods in the area.
We are healthy, whew staying safe on these crazy driving roads. There is not much of doing great hairstyles in this humidity.
We are assigned out of our area to the Mangaldan town Branches in Pangasinan area of the Philippines. We have visited 18 inactive families last week, some in very, very humble circumstances, its amazing they stay alive, but jobs of street laying, rice picking and spreading, store associates are always asked for hire everywhere. Some families are well- off, but the neighborhoods they live in are still run-down. And the well-off people do not have things as nice as us in the US.
Shopping is an experience. I'm getting used to it. We now have enough food for 2 weeks. The potatoes are tiny, Carrots are huge, celery is bitter, hamburger and chicken is good, Milk is eh a little better than evap milk. There are no baking pans in the grocery stores, only dept stores - like a Sears. I bought a pie plate and 2 bread pans. Except for Sr Couples and Mission leaders, NO one has an oven - so it would be difficult to teach it in RS. No one has a sewing machine,,,, except the Mission Home.
The children are sooo cute! Big eyes, like on the King and I movie. Some have been taught to bow their heads to your hands aww. They all seem to love their families, many big families of 8 children. They all love to have and pray to have children. So different it seems than Sweden - with less people in cities and streets. These trycycles carry the people anywhere, so cheap= anyone can get around, no excuse to come to church, but many we visited did not.
We think we saw Bruce Dickamore's son and
wife on the Temple film in Provo. Very handsome couple. Good actors.
In Manilla, we did sealings,,,, before we came to our area, Calasiao
about 5 hours away.
Technically, we live in Eagles nest apt compound on I think Mc Aurthur Rd.
