Missionary Work is sometimes like a Vacation ride

Dear Family and Friends,
     When we first received our interview and instructions from our Mission President Monahan last March, he told us to strengthen the members and do anything else that was asked of him and his assistants.  

   The latest request of him was to assist the leaders to clean up the records of the Branches to move towards making a Stake in the area we serve.  This meant to find who has died, moved away, and members who are not on the Branch list.

   One day, we had our plans to visit families, when we got a call from some Elders in the next city.  They had arrived home last night and saw their fridge didn't work.  The next morning, they moved it away from the wall and saw this....
 

 There was a power surge that exploded the outlet.
Elder Roberts and I drove to their apartment.  Elder Roberts was happy to have received the tools from the departing other Sr. Couple Missionaries, the Mortensens.

Elder Roberts and I had prayed before we went there that the damage would be minimal, and .. it was.  Elder Roberts put a new plug on the fridge, and... it worked!

    Moving on with our Missionary work, we then visited the Viado family.  They told us of extended family members who had died and moved away that was not recorded on the membership list.  We had a fun visit with them.

Mharivil is wearing the Mangaldan National High School uniform. All girls wear skirts to school.  Arlene is not married, but loves babies so much, she holds anyone's babies at Church or at home.

 Elder and Sister Shamrell  are our wonderful serving Sr. Couple from from Oregon.  She is the Mission Secretary now, and he is the Supply and Apartment repair Manager. 



     We had the great opportunity of helping with Elder Shamrell to open a new apartment in Bani, an area of the Mission that we had never been.  Bani is going up the penninsula thumb on the left side of the red box.  We live in Calasiao, about in the middle of the red box.

 Elder Shamrell and Elder Roberts loaded two trucks with fridge, furniture and supplies and we were on our way.

With the "Weak Bridge" sign, I hope our truck and supplies will hold us!

 
And we arrived in Bani at the new apartment, somewhat unfinished on top.
 
 After unloading with help from the Missionaries, we drove to see a popular resort town, Hundred Islands.

There were tents selling things, and we had our picture taken with the many small islands across the water. The wind was blowing Sis. Roberts hair.

We are SOOOO thankful that we asked Elder Shamrell to show us the way home,,,, we would have been WAAAY lost !!  We went down a mountain road,,

It began to be dark, he drove us through Lingayan, the Church was lit up, We will come back again in the light.
 
 

 We are grateful to be here on our Mission and we pray we will always do whatever the Lord and our leaders require.  We hope and pray we and all of you may receive the blessings if we keep the commandments with a willing heart.   

The Lord said :
 

 3 Nephi:10 And when the disciples had done this, Jesus said unto them: Blessed are ye for this thing which ye have done, for this is fulfilling my commandments, and this doth witness unto the Father that ye are willing to do that which I have commanded you.

 11 And this shall ye always do to those who repent and are baptized in my name; and ye shall do it in remembrance of my blood, which I have shed for you, that ye may witness unto the Father that ye do always remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you.

 12 And I give unto you a commandment that ye shall do these things. And if ye shall always do these things blessed are ye, for ye are built upon my rock.
