We are Grateful to be Hastening the Work of the Lord

Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for all your kind and happy words.  We are very grateful to be able to have technology to Skype and even to call.  We got to call my parents, Daddy and Mother are very busy clearing their home to move. On Mother's Day, Dennis gave me a corsage  ( unheard of - except for at a  wedding).  And at the Church, the members were very kind to me.

My daughter, Elizabeth sent me a special email with grateful thank yous and fun remembrances of encouraging her through her life, one of piano.  Once when she was little, I showed her   a magazine pic of a girl with red hair that looked a little like her.  Elizabeth kept it and showed it again to me, maybe that's why she likes her hair red ? ?  Here's a little family fun picture

And here is our Family Photo  Please excuse the title of the Family Pic.  It is Roberts and Griggs combined family photo.

We show this to most of the family members that we visit.  They are all surprised that we have a large family,  and that they are all members of the Church.  We also show pics of our home, scenery, animals, tractors and doors.  Filipinos are very interested in our snow pictures back at our home in Wales UT.

We read the Book of Mormon everyday and love the sweet Spirit in it, and instruction and warnings.  We also love to read Preach My Gospel book, written mostly by the Apostles and the Prophet Pres. Monson that has the same wonderful Spirit - like every sentence and word was prayed about.

This is     what we teach when we visit people:  Jesus Christ showed us the example by being baptized by immersion himself.  It also shows the Church is true that we believe in 3 - Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

In Matthew in the Bible, we read:

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

In Preach My Gospel it says:
Before baptism, we show our willingness to keep all the commandments for the rest of our lives.  After baptism we show our faith by keeping our covenants.  We also regularly renew the covenants we make when baptized by partaking of the sacrament. Partaking of the sacrament weekly is a commandment.  It helps us remain worthy to have the Spirit with us always.  It is a weekly reminder of our covenants.

Our Mission President Monahan has given us the assignment to visit less-active Saints (they are Saints!), and remind them to keep the covenants they received at their baptism, which will bless their lives, families, cities and country.  We visit them in their sometimes humble homes, sometimes very nice homes and give all the same message.

Everyone, no matter if they have not come to Church in two weeks or two years - IS SO KIND AND WELCOMING TO US !  !  With Amor - the shorter girl in the Mother's Day pic - we visited a member family.  Sometimes we feel like they live in the Garden of Eden, because this member's backyard was like a park.

At some member's places, we get to look at their baby pigeons, and at other's  feed their chickens.

We stopped at a place, I looked up and said, Are we really going into that Jungle?  The Sister Missionaries who were with us made fun of me and started singing "In the Jungle the Lion Sleeps Tonight" ! !  I really thought going down dirt pathways- was something the - young Elders and Sisters would be doing -- not me ! !

Are you coming,, Sister Roberts??

We were invited to a wedding of a couple in our ward, who he can not be baptized until they are married.  They were married by the District President Juardeleza, and then he was baptized an hour later.

We went to the store, and met a couple preparing for a Temple Marriage, Ashton and Lovely Macanlalay.  He is 22, she is 29.  (Many women's and girls real names here are Lovely, Princess, Lady, even Baby -the Councilwoman)!)
They invited us to their Reception. Some of the music they played was "Isn't she Lovely, "

They danced ballroom

 and modern-style dancing too.

There on the buffet, was roast pig, and the Pig Head !

When we go to the store, the Pig Head is something you can purchase.

Of course Crisco is next to the Tabasco sauce in the Oriental foods section...!

Some say that Mango Ketchup is better than tomato ketchup.

We went to a Symphony and Choral concert with Pres. and Sister Monahan and all the Couple Missionaries, for our 6-week FHE outing.  The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra played Chopin, Beethoven, Yanni, and Disney's Frozen "Let it Go" complete with singers and costumes.

The Gasoline - Petro station attendants are kind and happy.  It's just like in the 60's - they clean your windshield, check your oil and tires..

We see interesting busses,

When we are hungry and tired we stop at stop at Chow King, Jolibees, KFC.

We once ate at Jeremi's which offers Squid balls, but we didn't order that,,mmm.

Now,  A couple of beauty pics

Well that's all for now.  May our Heavenly Father's blessings and protection be upon you and us all.  We are grateful to be here to answer the call in Hastening the Work of the Lord in these Latter-days.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is so true.

Love you all,
Elder Dennis and Sister Beth Ann Roberts
