We are having a lovely, happy time on our Urdaneta Philippines Mission.
WOW,, we have been here more than a year now ! !
We went to go visit a family and saw the Missionary Elders on the side of the road.
We gave them some pkg. cookies, and we exchanged information about the people we know in the barangay (neighborhood). They also had with them two young men members. Along with Elder Roberts sitting, they are all sooo gwapo (handsome)!
We went to visit our family down a beautiful tree-lined road, and they went another way.
The Philippine people are so kind when we visit. Brother Fernandez stopped his work and found some plastic chairs for us. He pulled up a work bench to sit on, with his grandchildren. We invited him to come back to Church, it would be a special Easter Sunday program.
We in the Philippines do not have the same time-line as Salt Lake City, Utah USA, so we don't get to see General Conference till the next week.
On Saturday, we went to the Church to attend the re-broadcast of the LDS General World Women's Conference. My favorite talk was by Sister Oscarson, (the Young Women General President).
She boldy proclaimed...
We need to boldly defend the Lord’s revealed doctrines describing marriage, families, the divine roles of men and women, and the importance of homes as sacred places—even when the world is shouting in our ears that these principles are outdated, limiting, or no longer relevant. Everyone, no matter what their marital circumstance or number of children, can be defenders of the Lord’s plan described in the family proclamation. If it is the Lord’s plan, it should also be our plan!

The Family Proclamation
She also quoted our Prophet, President Monson...
Our beloved prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, is a wonderful example of honoring women and motherhood, especially his own mother. In reference to our earthly mothers, he has said: “May each of us treasure this truth; one cannot forget mother and remember God. One cannot remember mother and forget God. Why? Because these two sacred persons, God and [our earthly] mother, partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice, in service, are as one.”3

We will talk more of General Conference in another blog, when we can view it.
Also on Saturday, we attended a Baptism of a Mother of a faithful member, a young man who can now prepare for a Mission, and a little brother of a faithful member young woman who plays piano for our meetings.
I, (Sister Roberts) sang the song, "Jesus came to John the Baptist".
On Easter Sunday, Brother Fernandez did come with a son and grandchildren.
Here is a picture of other members in the Church hallway.
This week, we went to a palenke, a meat and fruit market. I, (Sister Roberts) liked the mangos and garlic very much, and not so much the dried fish.
We went shopping for a new tie for Elder Roberts birthday April 7. We saw some "on pocket signature shirts" we thought....
On his Birthday, we went to District Meeting. Elder Ball gave a wonderful talk about how... every question a person, investigator or member of the Church has... it can be solved by... reading the Book of Mormon
If, a person has not been converted yet, he needs to.. read the Book of Mormon. By reading it, the Spirit of the Lord will witness that Joseph Smith is a latter-day Prophet.
Then, all the teachings of our Church will be confirmed as the truth.
After District Meeting, we had a great Birthday Celebration for Elder Roberts, with food that Sister Roberts had made, chocolate cake, tuna-noodle salad, Tostitos Chips and salsa, and colored "Easter eggs".
We also had another birthday party at Sister Roario's home, which was celebrating her son Ezekiel's birthday.
We are grateful for the Lord's blessings this week.
Love,
Elder and Sister Roberts
