These are pictures of more visits to Malasiqui.
Sometimes Elder Roberts gets to eat bananas along the way....
On the road again to visit members of Malasiqui first branch.
Sister Roberts made friends with the neighbor children and sang with them Primary songs,,, Popcorn Popping, and Book of Mormon Stories
This was a fun family. When we first went in the home, only the Father was there. Then family members came home from work, school, market, and all stayed to listen to our message. We yearned that they were active in the Church. They could be such a strength.
The son with the tall, stripe shirt - his real name is King Albert. His sister's name is Queenie... !
He and his sister are going to work abroad Saudi Arabia. sad...
Our Church leaders encourage member father and mothers to not separate themselves from their families to go abroad for work. They encourage them to please stay home with their families.
Some Father's, even Mother's leave their families to go to work. How their family misses them, children grow up.
Here is a lovely Lola (Grama)
We drove down the road, past CTR Car Wash !
The Philippines is a very Christian, religious country. It is the only Asian country that is predominately Christian, and they are proud to display it.
We went to Malasiqui Town Hall.
We gave out pass-along Cards with the picture of the Savior holding children. Everyone wants to have their picture taken. They think it will be on Facebook. Sorry, at this time,, no facebook for us.
But this is a funny sign in the Town Hall....
(I guess there is too much affection showed?? But we never have seen ANYONE kissing here. They are Private People here.)
We came out and saw a large building being constructed. Hmmm no safety codes here....
No plates available - (License Plate says)
At one family, the father is very active, and the children sometimes. The Mother is not a member.
But reading the Book of Mormon is a daily event. When we asked them to get out their scriptures to read with us, they all had their own Books of Mormon.
Sister Irmina - our member who showed us to homes, took us to other families.
One family we had visited before. The Mother and all the children had been baptized recently. We are so proud of them.
Some of their girls and the other Primary Children are great singers!
Sister Josh is a great Primary Leader (she would love to get married..) Sister Irmina works great in Primary too.
Another day, Joel and Jared took us to visit members. (Jared is his wife).
We stopped and asked directions at this member's home. She has a Sari Sari store in front of her home, as many, many people do in the Philippines.
They said, Elder and Sister Roberts, it's just down this path,, doon doon, (doh-on doh-on) which means over there....
We walked and walked...
(Remember this bridge,, we'll refer to later)...
Past the colorful wash a-drying...
After about 1/2 hour of walking... very tired, and Elder Roberts' hurting knee...
We arrived at the family's home.
We had a nice visit and had a talk about Enduring to the End.
It was time to go back. Sister Roberts was concerned for Elder Roberts walking all that way back. The Lord provided for us his Missionaries. The married son offered a ride in his tryke.
We had our FIRST experience riding in a tryke back to our car ! Uuuuhhh we kind of fit.
We were nervous when we came to the bridge..
We'll show the earlier pic again...
Then, we went to another visit. The cement fence had broken glass to deter intruders ?
A way back in (not as long a walk),
Along the way, children started to follow us - again. (This seems to be our blessing on our Mission). Elder Roberts gave out wrapped candy, and
Sister Roberts sang Popcorn Popping, Book of Mormon stories and Once There Was a Snowman ! The children gleefully learned and joined in. We gave out pass-long cards to the non-member parents, who were happy, also.
This older son is not happy, but he was cordial to us as we tried to visit his father who was at the market.
We were led to a very active family. We see them every week.
In this fine family, the Father is 2nd Counselor in Branch Presidency, and Mother is a great Primary Teacher.
We stopped at the fruit stand on the way home. Her aunt had been baptized in another town Mangaldan that we worked before. She showed us - a picture of US (what?) with her aunt Dona at the baptism wow. !
We gave a referral to the Missionaries for her.
We love the people and this work for the Lord. May we all show our love for God and his Son, Jesus Christ by enduring to the end by keeping his Commandments and attending Church to partake of the Sacrament.
Love,
Elder and Sister Roberts
