Our Mission is fun, we get to visit very nice people with kind families.
The time we get to spend is short, in our last area of Malasiqui. In our Missionary Work, we have been asked in addition to visiting, to help the Branch Clerk clear records of those who have moved away, or died.
Malasiqui Branch members are GREAT at assisting us with this. At one Branch Missionary Meeting, there were 25 people!
Sister Go is the Branch Pres. wife. She was a faithful teen, and later served a Mission. But no faithful man came to marry her in the Temple till she was 34 and she met Pres. Go, who was several years younger.
They married when she was 35, and they have had 4 children (one in heaven). So young women, be faithful and patient....
We started out that week with 2 members with us, Sister Go and Sister Castillo. The first home had a pet pig.
They enjoyed our pictures from home. The Mother was a referral that day.
This is another family. A faithful daughter loves and encourages her Mother.
(It was several weeks ago, when it was raining hard. But after 2-3 days, it cleared up.)
Elder Roberts stopped to give out candy to the children along the way.
Even less-active members are so kind and invite us into their home. We sat on a wood bench and they sat on the bamboo bed. The roof was too low for us to stand up. They climb the ladder (behind my head) to get to the 2nd level.
The teen boys didn't want to come in,,, until we showed them our family photos with snow, mountains and horses.
The young Elder Missionaries later told us they are never welcome in this barangay (neighborhood). I guess we'll go with them next time.
The next family we met, we had met 1 year ago! In an earlier blog,, we related the story of visiting a member in another town of Mangaldan, whose father was tatay Narcissa (father Narcissa). 20 minutes after we left, his tatay died!
When we went to the home viewing, his son told us he was glad his tatay heard the word of the Lord from the Missionaries before he died.
This is Sister Castillo, our other member who came with us.
Another day, as we traveled , rice was drying
on the road---like last year's blogs. Wow, yes, we've been here in the Philippines more than a year !
OOooo this is a squeeze Elder Roberts, to go down this path...
A happy family. A kind son was messaging his father's hurt legs. At the back are our members who accompanied us, Alma Boquiren the Relief Society Pres., and Jeabby.
Then we drove about 20 minutes to the next barangay.
Sister Alma led the way...
This is the way many people decorate their plants. With eggshells...
Although they don't know we are coming.. the Lord provides. We saw the member at her neighbor's home. She led us through her barangay, past her neighbors homes...
....to her home. She was kind and listened to our message to read the Book of Mormon and endure to the end by keeping the commandments of Jesus Christ. Then she told us who in her family and the barangay had moved away.
And now we're going back to the car...
On the way home we saw a tryke loaded with baskets.
We stopped to eat at Jolibee. Surprisingly, the Elders were there too. We sat together and exchanged fun stories.
Another beautiful sunset. May God bless us as we do his work, in his way.
Love,
Elder and Sister Roberts
